Refreshing the idea

So I started this blog over a year ago and haven't used it.  The main reason for this is I can't actually enter mathematical formula in this blog.  I'm going to continue looking into options, I think wordpress sounds like a good one, but I don't know how to use it.

But now I think I'm going to try learning mapping class groups on here.  We'll see if I can make this work.

An introduction to my second blog

A friend suggested that I try blogging about math to help me learn it.  And this concept really makes sense. We learn better when we teach, but I don't have anyone to teach algebraic geometry or topology to, yet I need to learn them.  Plus I have comprehensives coming up, and I need to learn that material.  The practice of typing up some of this material will hopefully force me to learn it better.

So that's why this blog is here, to help me learn.  Don't expect it to be insightful in any way.  In fact, don't expect it to be entirely accurate, as I am just learning much of this material (though hopefully I won't be too off base).  This is for my own purposes; I don't expect anyone else to read it.  However, if you do stumble upon it somehow and have any insights, please don't hesitate to comment.  I need all the help I can get.
